Big Bear Lodge and Hatfield~McCoy Trail Gear are family owned and operated by Jeff and Tinamarie Trent with the endless help of our daughter, Kendra. Jeff is a lifelong resident of the Gilbert area and is a retired surface miner with 35 years of service. He has worked and played in these hills all of his life…and still is! Tinamarie, formerly from Pennsylvania, came to WV at a very young age and was a banker for 20 years before starting this adventure. And our amazing daughter, Kendra was born and raised here and is now a Registered Nurse.

Our business venture began in 1997 when we purchased a video store/ tanning salon (Movie Hut). Then, in April 2006 we entered into the lodging and souvenir business. Shortly thereafter we added 2 more lodging facilities. In 2014 we opened our online store (HatfieldMcCoyTrailgear.com) to better serve our valued customers as well as future customers.

Although we still have about 10,000 dvd’s in stock and we still have our tanning beds, we have converted our store (Movie Hut) into a souvenir shop…..now called Hatfield McCoy Trail Gear. We have a huge inventory of officially licensed Hatfield~McCoy Trails merchandise plus helmets, goggles, and much more. We are a trail permit vendor and keep an ample supply of trail maps in stock so stop in at anytime to grab one!

We are located in the friendliest ATV town on the planet…..our hometown, Gilbert WV! We are open 7 days a week to better serve everyone.
